An online acquaintance introduced me to a cool new service called Stamp Fans. It’s a snail-mail publishing platform for writers. Set your subscription price to anything greater than $3. Stamp Fans keep $3/month on every subscription (to cover paper & postage). You keep the rest!
You can check out my page, “Finding Ways to Fund Your Freedom,” here. Every month, I will send you a money-making idea or cost-saving tip to help you quit your 9-5 job and begin the path to financial freedom.
📫 ✉️ You’ll receive an actual paper letter mailed to your physical mailbox. How fun is that?
Retro reading on paper just might be making a comeback! Believe it or not, the satirical news from The Onion will soon be published in good old-fashioned print form: “No Joke: The Onion Thinks Print Is the Future of Media. The satirical site is hoping a newspaper with fake stories and fake ads will lead to real money.”
Perhaps we’re all tired of the terrible reading experience on our devices.
Only a small amount of story text is visible on many sites.
Pop-up ads interrupt your experience.
Other ads and visual noise crowd around the story and inject themselves into the scrolling flow.
Buzzing, beeping, and blinking notifications from apps on your phone or laptop distract you.
I know I miss the distraction-free focus of reading on physical paper. That’s one reason I journal in a paper notebook every morning. It’s also why I still have paper books that I love to sit and read by the fire on cold winter evenings.
So, I’m going to experiment by sending a physical letter, too. I’ll share a monthly idea for how to make extra income or save money to optimize your lifestyle business P&L. If getting a real letter from me in your physical mailbox sounds like fun, you can check it out here: “Finding Ways to Fund Your Freedom.”
This service might also make sense for your business. For example, I told my brother, the chef, that he should test sending a monthly recipe to subscribers. People could add the pages to a binder and make a cookbook from his greatest hits!
More examples I saw on Stamp Fans:
A blogger moving her posts to physical letters.
Someone providing a humorous pen pal experience.
Monthly letters about transforming mental health care.
Poetry, philosophical ponderings, and ideas to spark the mind.
Monthly food and cocktail recipes.
How might you use physical letters to connect more deeply with your audience and make a little extra money along the way?
