Authors frequently experience writer’s block. They sit at the keyboard and stare at the screen, but the words won’t come. It happens to me about once a month.

Business owners get blocked, too.

  • How do I get more customers?

  • Why isn’t my sales pitch working?

  • How can I improve my product?

  • Why is my revenue flatlining?

  • Why is my marketing so dull?

The thing is, you’ll never get unblocked if you’re stuck in a routine.

I occasionally slip into a comfortable routine of daily habits. Wake up, make coffee, journal, work out, eat, talk to clients, eat, sleep, repeat.

Yes, habits are good and help you stay on track and make progress to achieve your goals. But a routine also stifles creativity.

If I stay home too long, I get stuck trying to develop new business ideas, writing topics, and creative solutions. It reminds me it’s time to get out of the house and go for a hike or take a day trip. That investment of time always helps me become creative again.

So, if you want to keep being innovative in your business, shake things up, feed your senses, and challenge your mind.

  • Meet new people.

  • Explore new places.

  • Embrace new experiences.

  • Be adventurous!

It’s hard to take time away from work. It feels unproductive. But it’s precisely the opposite. That time investment will make your business better!
