💡 Business Tip - How to Get Blocked (Issue #53)
FYI - This is a bad sales technique
I received the following message in my inbox the other day. They had been cold emailing me with pitch after pitch and follow-up after follow-up. I hadn’t been paying much attention because I receive hundreds of emails every week.
Annnnddd… block.
Folks, please don't do sales like this. Do they think it's an effective strategy to cold email and harass people?
No one owes you a response when you drop into their inbox uninvited or leave them spam voicemails. Follow-ups only work when someone asks for more information about your product or service — or you already had an initial call with them.
Even then, there’s a limit.
I offer a free initial coaching call for potential clients. If they ask how they can work with me, I will send a proposal. I usually follow up once if I don’t hear from them.
That’s it! I don’t keep harassing people. If they want to work with me, they know how to get in touch.
I know some sales coaches recommend such harassing techniques. But that behavior can get you reported for spam and damage your email reputation. It’s not worth it.
