💡 Business Tip - Demystify Failure (Issue #34)
It takes a lot of swings to get a hit
Success rarely occurs with your first attempt at something.
Besides, who would want to end up being a one-hit wonder anyway? Building a lasting lifestyle business is all about creating something successful that you can keep running until you’re ready to fully retire—day after day and year after year.
You need to try a lot—and be willing to fail a lot—if you want to succeed later.
It sounds kind of funny, but the more you fail, the easier it gets. It becomes less mysterious and less scary each time it happens.
Soon, you will feel eager to take a swing again because you're no longer worried about it.
I have failed so many times that it no longer bothers me. I’m not scared to try wild and crazy new ideas anymore. For example, I often ask myself, "What's the worst that can happen?"
If the cost of failure isn't catastrophic (note: you can manage this risk), who cares what other people think?
It's easy enough to get up and try again.
If I told you it takes 10 swings to get a hit, would you be so scared of those failed swings that you would only try once or twice a year?
Or, once or twice in your lifetime?
Or, would you start swinging every day to get those failed attempts out of the way, learn and adapt, and get that successful hit as soon as possible?
I think I know the answer to that question…
